Reiki origins are said to be in Tibet. Here the Buddhist monks passed this are on from one generation to another. Reiki was lost then found in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui in the 1800's. He studied Buddhism and after 14 years of research was able to gather all the health benefits of Reiki which in turn he passed on to 16 of his chosen disciples. Dr. Usui died in 1932.
